My parents and I moved to Jeffersonton, VA in 2007. They gave me an amazing opportunity, with the purchase of a small farm, to open and run my own horse boarding barn. I also was able to start teaching lessons and train horses. I have almost 30 years horse experience and a B.S. in Agriculture gearing towards horse nutrition and husbandry. I have managed several barns including Triton Farm in Middleburg, VA where I learned a lot about eventing. I found that this is my passion. I also worked for a few years at Banbury Cross Farm in Clarksburg, MD. There I developed an appreciation for dressage and long-lining.
I competed in fun shows, hunter shows, jumper shows, and horse trials. My most memorable is competing novice level at Fair Hill Horse Trials and was able to win one of the most difficult competitions I have ever entered. I was so proud of my horse Burning Redwood who gave me a stellar dressage ride and was a machine on the cross country course. Unfortunately after that my competition days were numbered because he developed Lyme’s and EPM. My time and energy was put into getting him better, teaching, training other horses, and managing my barn. My wonderful horse has now recovered and has become a wonderful school horse.
I am now married with a wonderful daughter who seems to love horses as well! I am blessed with a wonderful family and a job that allows me to take my daughter to work. I still manage all aspects of the barn, ride as much as I can, and teach lessons.
